PO CHUNG CHEN
I am Po Chung Chen, a product designer from Taiwan and the founder & creative director of Dishan Studio. After completing my MA in Industrial Design at Designskolen Kolding in Denmark, I established my own design studio in Copenhagen. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I moved back to Taiwan and have been striving to continue providing high-quality design services and consulting to our customers and enterprises.
The mindset of Dishan is heritage; our goal is to create a better life for future generations through design. I firmly believe that design not only creates something beautiful and functional but also has a great impact on our society. Since returning to Taiwan, our studio has collaborated with numerous local industries, spanning material development, crafts, social design platforms, brands, and government agencies. In my view, design is the power that can bring together people from different industries and backgrounds to envision a better and more sustainable world.
Sustainability is one of the most important values we aim to achieve through design. To redefine the perception of waste materials, at SaloneSatellite 2024, we are showcasing projects that combine local materials, waste, and various distinctive crafts to highlight the aesthetics and value of sustainability. This includes 3D-printed furniture made from oyster shells and slag, a modular furniture system constructed from zero-cement slurry, lamps crafted from optical waste, and a recyclable modular panel and mat series made from textile waste, which we have collaborated on with Umami Studio.
The key words of my design philosophy: Simple, playful, understandable and sustainable.

Dishan Design Studio
Dishan" is an uncommon word in Chinese which means heritage. It reminds us to preserve valuable aspects for our future, to design sustainable products, and to create more sustainable, playful and beautiful life experiences.
